Fiance is From Mars

Belle discovered the pile of clothes I kept "forgetting" to put away....

Fiance and I are similar in a lot of ways: we love traveling, we can watch FRIENDS everyday for the rest of our lives, frozen pizza is one our staples, rap music dominates our ipods, and Belle is the apple of our eyes.

We may love and enjoy many similar things, but we are also incredibly different…. besides the whole “one of us male the other is female” obvious differences.

For one, Fiance doesn’t drink coffee. (???) I do not play video games. He hates going to the gym. I hate watching football. He’s a carnivore, and I’m a vegetarian.  I squeeze the toothpaste from the middle of the tube, he neatly rolls his from the bottom. (We actually own our own tubes of toothpaste so that this never becomes a fight.) This list could go on and on, but I’ll just focus on a couple things.

Fiancé and I both have lots of energy and rarely like to sit still and relax. The problem here is that I use my energy all day (at least 6 days a week), and Fiancé stores his energy all week long anxiously awaiting for me to have some free time.

By the time I get off of work at 6pm, or have a Saturday afternoon free, he is bursting at the seams to leave the apartment and run all over the city. Normally, I love running around town, but sometimes a girl needs to rest!

That’s another big difference, Fiance does not understand my need to curl up in a blanket with a cup of joe, Gilmore Girls on the tube, and a book in my hand for at least an hour out of my week. He’s been relaxed all week, and for some reason he gets no enjoyment watching me relax. In fact, the Saturday before he left for Tennessee he had big plans to go shopping and errand running all afternoon and evening.

When I walked in from work at lunch time he said “Do not get comfortable, I’m taking a quick shower and then we’re going to leave! NO napping!”

When he got out of the shower, this is what he found.

I couldn't help myself, the snuggie and the coffee were calling my name!

Now that Fiance is in Nashville for a few weeks it’s much easier for me to relax and do nothing during my spare time (which is rare between work, wedding planning, and writing)…. Since he’s been gone I’ve spent way too much time eating take out or Kraft macaroni and cheese for dinner, braiding my hair, shopping, and finally finishing the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.

Fiance, you better get home soon or I’m going to become set in my ways. Belle misses you too.

*You all better may have noticed that I did not write a blog all weekend. This is because I have been working on a special series that I hope to begin posting soon! To give you a little teaser here are some title ideas for the series:

  1. The first pic is SO Molly. She only likes to lay on clean clothes/blankets/towels (which are usually left on the couch awhile).

  2. Ooooh! I love the braid, looks like it took a while!

  3. I love the hair! Well opposites do I attract and I should know too because I have one as well 😉 Oh and btw I am cracking up at the toothpaste thing because I do the same exact thing and I remember when Scott and I had our wonderful trip to see you… the toothpaste gremlin came in and “fixed” it for me so it looked like it was squeezed from the bottom (ahemmmm PETER!) ha ha..but at least he did admit to it or would have thought y’all had ghosts..lol!

  4. I figured it out at the Devil Wears Fake Prada…for this is the epicenter of phony. When will it launch?? I may a few extra entries for you…put a little extra jazz in it.

Love reading your blog Hilarie! You are hilarious, incredibly honest, and so charming. Miss you dear!
